Marian Elorza has participated, together with the Flemish Minister, Jan Jambón, and the Californian Congressman Ted Lieu, in one of the round tables in the Conference of Montreal programme, looking at the part played by economic diplomacy in the federated states and non-state governments. Nadine Girault, the Quebec Minister of International Relations and Immigration, opened the session.

During her contribution, Marian Elorza spoke about the Basque Government’s External Affairs strategy and about the process of creating and developing the Euskadi Basque Country brand. In Marian Elorza’s words, “The country brand constitutes an asset for companies wishing to launch internationalisation projects”.

Furthermore, the Secretary-General highlighted the importance for the Basque Country of having been chosen to participate in an economic forum as important as that of the Americas. “The example of the Basque Country can serve as an example to other Governments. Today’s participation represents a recognition”, she said.
